My name is Matt an I live on the north side of Chicago with my lovely life Unity. I have an MA in Christian Thought from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and an MS in Library Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I watch more TV and read less than I should. I enjoy watching sports and being out in nature – especially studying trees. I’m blessed to have a great family (hi Mom!) which now includes a bunch of really fun east coast Puerto Ricans.

Why the name Urban Pilgrim?
The title of this blog is inspired by Psalm 84:5 which reads, “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.” Although I was raised in small Midwestern farming villages my pilgimage has taken me to the West Ridge neighborhood of Chicago where I’m endeavoring to learn how to faithfully follow my God in the city.

What is this blog about?
UP is my place to reflect on following Christ in a third millennium (3M) American city. Specifically my interest include urban community, and ecology, technology, history, and I might throw in some library stuff too.

Thanks for visiting. Your respectful thoughts and comments are welcome.
